Dr. Oku, a young researcher in our R & D center, was awarded The James Joule IIR Young Researchers Award.

Dr. Tatsuya Oku of our R & C center, Mayekawa Mfg. Co., Ltd. was rewarded The James Joule IIR Young Researchers Award for his research in scroll compressors.

This prize is awarded for outstanding research work (thesis, dissertation, or various shorter publications of similar importance, if taken together) performed by young researchers on subjects in the domain of competence of the IIR. The candidate shall be 35 years old or younger on the date of conferring of the award.

He undertook (, with excellent results) the study of the lubrication mechanism of the thrust slide-bearing in scroll compressors. Further, he also developed a theoretical analysis method which has been successfully applied to determine the optimal lubrication performance design of the thrust slide-bearings.
