With a population of nearly 240 million, Indonesia faces a severe shortage of fresh meat, fish, and vegetables, making it imperative to establish and expand a cold chain for a stable food supply. To achieve this vision, ADIB decided to install NewTon in their freezer and refrigeration systems.

Upon making the decision to install the NewTon system in the Bekasi facility, Mr. Mulyono visited Japan himself to ask about the NewTon system in locations where they had been installed, and viewed simulations that showed how adopting NewTon resulted in a 30% reduction in electricity usage compared to the liquid ammonia pump system. This convinced him, Mulyono says, “The system will satisfy the economical requirements, the most important ones in running a business, as well as requirements in accordance with CFC phase-out.”
The ammonia charge is low at 50kg *, as the NewTon system uses the indirect cooling method, in which only the heat exchanged CO2 is sent to the cold storage, instead of ammonia directly sent there as the refrigerant. The system is also equipped with ammonia hazard neutralizing equipment. The multi-layered safety measures completely do away with conventional concerns about ammonia usage. The company was also convinced about the long-term merits of using stainless steel piping. All of these factors contributed to the decision to install NewTon.

After NewTon was installed, the status of the system could be monitored through real-time data through a remote system, eliminating the need to employ any certified technician. The clients are very pleased with the fact that only CO2 travels through the cold storage.
The system has also proven to be energy efficient. When he compared his costs with his friend who owned facilities of similar size, the power palette was approximately 25 to 30% lower after the installation of the NewTon. Mulyono smiled, saying, “Ever since NewTon was introduced, the number of inquiries from new customers has been increased. We’re very satisfied.”
